In 1978/79, The Lee Cooper Company approached Beggars Banquet asking about a band called 'Tubeway Army'. They had heard Numan's vocals and wanted him to record a song for there upcoming Commercial campaign for the television jeans advert.

Numan did the vocal (Above) and he wanted to release 'Don't Be A Dummy' as a single but Lee Cooper refused.

Are 'Friends' Electric? went to Number 1 and Lee Cooper changed there mind and wanted to Gary to release it as a single. Numan refused. So they bought in John Du Cann to do the new vocal.

The original BEG 95 catalogue number was for the track called Soul Darlin' by the former member of Dexys Midnight Runners Andde Leek.

The track was pulled after Andde signed for another label, however this was after Beggars had invested a bit of money in him by pressing a few 12" test pressings.

These two pressings are A side only, the B side has a test tone, the matrix code has BEG 95T in both of the runoff grooves.

Nothing to do with Numan except the catalogue number.
